Gloria Zakka is a Scientific officer with over six years of progressive experience at the Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Environment.
She currently serves as a Senior Scientific Officer (SSO) in the Department of Climate Change (DCC), where she leads and supports strategic initiatives on Gender-responsive climate action, food system transformation, and Climate Awareness, education and Outreach.
Gloria has contributed to the development and implementation of Nigeria’s National Action Plan on Gender and Climate Change (NAPGCC), integrating gender equity into national climate strategies. She also serves as the Deputy Expert and National Focal Officer to the Climate Commission for the Sahel Region (CCRS) and the Sahel Climate Fund, coordinating Nigeria’s role in regional climate finance and resilience-building efforts. Gloria’s portfolio includes spearheading actions on food security and climate adaptation, facilitating stakeholder engagement, drafting technical reports, and supporting high-level dialogues. She has represented Nigeria in global forums such as United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Conference of parties, as well as in capacity-building workshops across Africa focused on green economy, gender inclusion, and adaptation leadership.
